Bigelows Tea, a small tea brand based in Massachusetts, is making a foray into streaming TV with an exclusive partnership with Netflix.
The company has signed a two-year deal to stream BigelOW Tea’s tea series “A Little Bit of History” for free on Netflix in 2019.
The show, which debuted in 2016, is narrated by the actor/comedian David Seltzer and stars the comedian Matt Walsh as a fictionalized account of a tea-loving British aristocrat named William Moringan.
The series is a collaboration between Bigelowers Tea and Netflix, which is streaming Bigelower Tea’s first season of “A Few Leaves.”
Bigelowing Tea co-founder and president Chris Moringam said in a statement that Netflix will provide “a rich, rich history of tea” to the series.
The “A New History” series follows Moringanean as he moves from a rural mill town to the New World, and the fictionalized story tells the story of the early years of the tea trade in New England.
Moringanes family has ties to the tea region, which he describes as being a place where “history is made, not eaten.”
The series has also received praise for its production values and “the depth and breadth of its subjects,” according to the Netflix website.
“A little bit of history” is the name of the series, which will be available to stream on Netflix starting in 2019, according to a press release.
The deal also includes the series “The Big Bang Theory” for streaming in 2019 and 2019 and “The Blacklist” for the same seasons.
The Bigelorns Tea series is one of many shows that will be released on Netflix for free by Bigelaws Tea, which also produces other tea-themed shows.
Netflix has long been an aggressive player in the industry, launching its original series like “House of Cards,” “Orange Is the New Black,” and “Orange is the New Drug” for shows like the popular podcast “Be Right Back.”
