China: Chinese growers boost profits amid rising costs

China has grown about 20% more green tea over the past year as growers boosted profits, the country’s Ministry of Agriculture said Thursday.

The number of acres planted with the specialty tea shrank by more than half from the year before, while output jumped by 4.7% from a year earlier, the ministry said in a statement.

The country is also expected to reap billions in profits from exports, it said, as the tea sector was one of the main drivers of the countrys growth.
